AI resume analysis: what it tells you, and what it does not
Short answer
AI resume analysis reads your experience and tells you how your profile presents: clarity, evidence, gaps in framing and how well it matches the roles you are targeting. It is a document-level view. It cannot tell you how exposed your work is to AI, which of your strengths stay defensible, or what to learn next - those require analysing the work itself, not the document describing it.

What resume analysis does well
- Surfaces the responsibilities and evidence your profile actually communicates.
- Shows where achievements are described as duties rather than outcomes.
- Highlights the language mismatch between your profile and the roles you want.
- Provides a structured, machine-readable view of your experience for further analysis.
What it cannot do
| Measure AI exposure | Exposure depends on the tasks in your week, how templated they are and how AI capability is moving - none of which a resume states. |
|---|---|
| Identify defensible strengths | A resume lists what you did. Defensibility depends on judgement, accountability and context around that work. |
| Produce a real skill gap list | Gaps are relative to how your role is being redefined, which requires labour-market signal, not document parsing. |
| Assess future readiness | Readiness combines exposure, strengths and gaps. A document score cannot represent it. |
Go past the document: see how the work itself is changing and what remains defensible.
How JobsAIQ uses your resume
JobsAIQ treats resume analysis as one input into a wider assessment. Your resume is parsed to establish your role, responsibilities and experience, then matched to an occupational classification so your work can be compared against exposure research and live hiring signals.
The output is an AI Career Intelligence report - AIQ Score, exposure, strengths, gaps, readiness and a plan - rather than a resume score. Your resume stays private and is used to produce your report.
Resume analysis versus career intelligence
| Scope | Resume analysis: one document. Career intelligence: the work, the role and the market around it. |
|---|---|
| Question answered | Resume analysis: how does my profile read? Career intelligence: how is my work changing and what should I do? |
| Output | Resume analysis: edits and framing. Career intelligence: exposure score, strengths, gaps, readiness and a sequenced plan. |
